Twenty One Twelve
Twenty One Twelve is an Indie Hard Rock band that hails from Alexandria, Louisiana, USA. The band's overall sound falls somewhere in between Nickelback and Creed. Twenty One Twelve knows how to light things up with their high energy rock that will move your spirit, and your body. The band takes the idea for their name from Revelations 21:12 where it describes the heavenly Jerusalem as seen in the text below:
Revelations 21:12
"12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:"

The band might only have one release to date however they already have an impressive list of credentials. With their AOR style of Hard Rock, Twenty One Twelve's single "Give Me The Strength" hit 192 on the US CHR Rock Radio Charts (MediaBase) mostly due to a strong fan base along with their radio promoter Howard Rosen. Also, they have been heard on nearly 300 different radio stations all across the US including Rock, CHR and CCM formats.
Twenty One Twelve might be an Indie band but that hasn't kept them in a basement just doing recordings. They have been active even sharing the the stage with bands like Papercut Massacre, Pillar, Seventh Day Slumber, Two Empty Chairs, and SuperChick.
In 2008, Twenty One Twelve released their indie debut self-titled album. Even though this is an independent release it offers up some tight production having been recorded at Dark Horse Studios by Dove Award winning artist Barry Blair(Audio Adrenaline).
The founding musicians for Twenty One Twelve are Mitch Attales(Vocals), Jamie Wallace(Guitars), John Perkins(Bass/Vocals), & Grant Shelton(Drums).
On this release there are some tracks that stand out like "Cast Your Stone" where we find Vocalist Mitch Attales drawing from a heavier bag of vocals styles even pulling out more of a Metaleque delivery in some areas. The track "Give Me The Strength" shouldn't be over looked with it's heavier qualities. Then there's the tune "Calling Out Again" with its progressive approach starting out light and progressing to a heavier sound and giving us a glimpse into the abilities of frontman Mitch Attales. Then there's the track "Selfless" complete with driving guitars where we find Mitch reaching for a grittier vocal style.

You will find that the lyrics are thought provoking and show the band's love for the Lord Jesus Christ as seen here in the tune "Take My Sin Away":
"Take My Sin Away"
There's a man struggling through life
scorned by everyone
begging for a second chance
wants to see his little ones dance
forgiveness is so hard to find today
if only he could find the words to say
bows his head bares his soul
and this is what he said
Take my sin away
Take my sin away
I can't do this on my own
shaken broken and alone
love me take my sin away
there's a woman contemplating life
forgotten by everyone
never even had a chance
is it so hard to give a second glance
does this life matter any more
heard that Jesus loves to the core
breaks a smile and kneels beside her bed
bares her soul and this is what she said
In this life everyone struggles
Just remember to be humble
Cry out to the Savior
Say this prayer and never waver
There's a man struggling through life
scorned by everyone
begging for a second chance
wants to see his little ones dance
forgiveness is so hard to find today
if only he could find the words to say

My only complaint falls with the last track on the album "Don't Just Stand There". This track clocks in at around 4 mins long even though it's marked to be 13:44 mins in length. This is because the band has finished out the track with the members discussing the album's recording process. With the whole album only clocking in at about 30 mins of actual music play, that technically places this album into the mini-LP zone which is just barely beyond the EP range. With that said, I would have rather seen the band place another barn burner in place of this last acoustic track more in the 5-6 min range in order to finish strong and beef up this debut recording. However, I am sure there are those out there who will find this acoustic tune enjoyable.
Hope we haven't heard the last of Twenty One Twelve because this band has plenty to offer to the Hard Rock community. So grab a copy of this debut release and Rock on as we wait for the heavenly Jerusalem to come down.
