Back in 1999 two brothers came together to form the Pennsylvania based - 'Xd Out' with the soul purpose of using Rock music as a medium for sharing a positive message. Three albums later, after 20 years of experience, brothers Chris and Josh Haynes are still at it and still trying to make a difference in the world with their music. Josh now calls Charlotte, NC home while Chris resides in Scranton, PA. In 2019 Chris & Josh both felt it was time to revamp the band with a whole new musical direction and with such changes came the need for a new band name. After a long hard search for a moniker that fit their new music style, the two brothers chose the name Torn Sky. Josh had the following to say about the meaning behind their new moniker: "For us Torn Sky can be taken a couple of ways, but chiefly for me it's the idea that our day to day reality can be torn apart by an event. How we adjust and pick up the pieces is very important to the outcome. Personally, my life changed a few years ago when I got divorced, but little did I know the best was yet to come."
In 2019 Torn Sky released their independent full-length self-titled debut album. This independent project was
Recorded by the band at SI Studios in Old Forge, PA. The recording was mixed by Joe“Wiggy”Wegleski and Mastering was handled by Tom Borthwick. The band started recording 'Torn Sky' back in February of 2017 putting this album close to three years in the making. When asked about the album's production the band had the following to say: "We had the pleasure of having the brilliant and talented musicians who own and work at the studio, we recorded at, play on the record. Slide Guitar on "Won't Back Down" and "On Our Way" was performed by Joe"Wiggy"Wegleski our engineer and producer. The keys on "Won't Back Down", and horn section on "See You Someday" were performed by Tom Borthwick who owns SI Studios in Old Forge, PA. We gave both guys a Producer Credit because they did so much more than engineer and master the project. They were integral to it's creation!"
With Torn Sky having cut their teeth in their previously band, their experiences have paved the way and allowed the band to now record a solid professionally produced 2019 Rock album that is sure to inspire for years to come. Listening to the band's debut, one will quickly notice harmonies reminiscent to that of the 'Beach Boys'. Then there's the little touches that bring to mind the alternative (1976-2013) band 'Daniel Amos'. Lightly season with some 80's Arena Rock and toss in a little 'Electrik' style groove. Finally, mix it all together with a modern 90's era Grunge attitude and and what you get is - Torn Sky!

It's worth noting that with their debut release Torn Sky has included a nicely done cover of Tom Petty & Jeffery Lynne's "I Won't Back Down". Also included is a cover of The Beatles tune "The Word" which happens to be Chris' favorite Beatles song from their album 'Rubber Soul'.
Some of the original tracks that really stand out on 'Torn Sky' are track-1 "Hope", track-2 "Breathe", track-3 "On Our Way", track-7 "Believe", track-9 "New Song (20 Years)", and track-10 "The Fight".
If you are like me and appreciate progressive music then as you listen to 'Torn Sky' you will notice that a number of the tracks take on a progressive nature getting heavier as the track progresses along.

Frontman-Chris Haynes delivers up a solid vocal performance here on the band's debut release while
axeman-Josh Haynes handles the guitar section for the band. Josh mixes things up in the guitar department by incorporating everything from driving guitar play to 90's era grunge styles to even including the use of the Banjo here and there.

"Torn Sky's debut album is full of songs born out of difficult times,
and connects on a personal level dealing with loss, loneliness, and hope for the future.
Closing out the album is an emotional tribute to their father who passed away in 2013."

"Hope"
We’re all made like glass
Broken and cracked signs do appear
Tears don’t fall so far
When we are on our knees
I’m so tired and played out
Give me strength for one more day
No where to run no where to hide
I lift my voice to the sky and I cry
You’re never alone Hope is on the way
Just keep hanging on
Don’t let your feelings lead the way
Sometimes they are wrongI
know it hurts but it won’t last too long
You’re never alone Hope is on the way
"Moving On"
Thank you Jesus for your love for me
It really blows my mind
And I as I head on to some better things
I thank You every time
Can’t you see I’m moving on
Driving down this road I’m on
I know a little something
I’ve learned a little something now
"The Very End"
Welcome my friend
To the very end
All the struggle and pain
It’s for you
Time’s closing in
All the hate and the sin
God will finish the reign
Yes it’s true
We’re all made like glass
Broken and cracked signs do appear
Tears don’t fall so far
When we are on our knees
I’m so tired and played out
Give me strength for one more day
