The Word66 is an up and coming 3-piece Rock band from the Las Vegas-"City of Lights", which saw its conception back in 2018 by guitarist-Steve Scott. For many years, founding member-Steve Scott had lost his way from the church and his love for playing music until God brought him back at this moment in time to fulfill a purpose. The Word66 was formed with the purpose of spreading the word through a medium the band loves most - Rock music. The Word66 is a trio of musicians comprised of vocalist/bassist-Brian Torres, guitarist-Steve Scott, and Drummer-Dave Murray.
The group takes the idea for their band's moniker from the bible or "the word" which is made up of 66 different individual books.

2021
In 2021 The Word66 released their independent debut 4-track EP titled 'On The Way To The Promise Land'. The release was produced by Steven Scott. The EP was recorded at the 'Tone Factory' where Vinnie Castaldo managed the recording process. With their debut offering, the band has released 4 solid tracks with clever arrangements that quickly draw the listener in from beginning to end.
The album's stunning cover art was done by artist-Joao Duarte. One thing I found interesting is that a band from the "City of Lights" has incorporated a lighthouse on their album's cover art. There seems to be a connection between the band's purpose & their cover art's imagery where we find that both make allusions to Mathew 5:16 "Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

This debut release includes a cover of Norman Greenbaum's 1969 "Spirit In The Sky" single release. The single went gold, selling over two million copies from 1969 to 1970. The Word66 does a good job of staying true to the original sound all the while presenting a fresh version of this classic '69 song. In addition, the band brought on Megan Rüger, from 'The Voice', to sing background vocals for the track.
