Slav Simanic
Slav Simanic is a guitarist originally from Smederevo (Yugoslavia) where he started a band called 'Bride' which were known for playing in clubs, guitar festivals and even received some radio airplay. However, Slav's music didn't receive the attention he thought it deserved so he moved to Canada to pursue a musical career. He arrived in Canada in 1994 and within the same year became a guitar teacher at the 'New Conservatory of Music' in Toronto. Slav wasted no time and within that same year started his own teaching and recording business called 'Bride Music Studio'. Just four years later in 1998, Slav finished work on the band's first studio full-length album titled 'Water Of Life'. This release was produced by Slav Simanic and recorded on his own label - Latter Reign Records. For this debut release, Slav solicited the help of world renown vocalist Phil Naro(Talas/Peter Criss) on track-4 "Days Of Ease". The rest of the album was composed of instrumentals featuring the guitar work of Slav Simanic. The album was a success and well received by fans from around the world. In November 2000 the album was re-released with two bonus tracks in Japan and South East Asia on the "Marqee Avalon" Record Label. In 2002 "Water Of Life" was re-released in Europe on the "Now and Then/Frontiers" Record Label.
The idea behind Slav Simanic's music is to celebrate the Lord, to spread
a positive Christian messages, and to encourage young musicians to abstain from drug use.
a positive Christian messages, and to encourage young musicians to abstain from drug use.
In 2002 Slav Simanic released his sophomore full-length follow-up to his 1998 'Water Of Life' album titled 'Let It Go'. The album was produced by Slav Simanic & released on both the Latter Rain Records label & Frontiers Record Label and includes a whopping total of 14 tracks. With 'Let It Go' from beginning to end one is immersed in a mixture of melodic Hard Rock and Power Metal offerings. Whether it be from the vocals of frontman-Phil Naro or the unrelenting shred of guitarist-Slav Simanic, the band quickly captures your attention with an energetic atmosphere of melodic arrangements.
With this second release came the question of who would fill the frontman position? However, with Phil Naro(Talas/Peter Criss) having already contributed vocals on Slav Simanic's debut release, he was already the obvious candidate for lead vocalist. Phil Naro is a Daytime Entertainment Emmy Award winning singer, as well as an internationally acclaimed composer, producer & songwriter. This 2002 release finds vocalist-Phil Naro delivering up a melodic hook-laden 80's style performance which is guaranteed to make any fan of the golden years of Rock music stand up and take notice.
Slav Simanic is a proficient shredder with his guitar style drawing comparison to such greats as Joe Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen. Within this 2002 release Slav draws from a deep bag of tricks play everything from driving guitar riffs to Power Metal to lightening fast noodling to melodic 80's style fret boarding to acoustic. For those who love a good guitar solo, with this recording we find that Slav has offered up not just one but three over-the-top instrumentals featuring his energetic guitar work. The three instrumental tracks include track-9 "Disciples Of...", track-10 "...The Almighty", and track-13 "The Message of Three Angels".
At an interview at 'Melodicrock' Slav shares where he draws inspiration for his lyrics:
"The album 'Let It Go' was made as a result
of my exploring the Holy Scripture and experiencing the message that it carries."

"You're Never Gonna Die"
When you feel that you're all alone
And things in life just don't seem right
Don't you know you're far away from home?
The answer lies before your eyes
Long ago the sacrifice was made
His precious blood was shed to make us pure
He alone can take away your pain
In Him you'll find the only cure
"Can't Stop On A Dime"
Walk along beside me, I'm the only Light
Choose the path that's narrow
Make the choice that's right
"The Fallen Angel"
Worship The One and The Only God
Who gave to us His only Son
Who was despised by all man
Who dies for us so we don't die
When you feel that you're all alone
And things in life just don't seem right
Don't you know you're far away from home?
The answer lies before your eyes
Long ago the sacrifice was made
His precious blood was shed to make us pure

With Slav Simanic's uncanny abilities to produce Power Rock/Metal offerings, hopefully in the future we will see a new album dedicated solely to the Power Metal genre. If you are into 80's style Rock/Hard Rock like Satriani and Yngwie Malmsteen then you are going to love what Slav Simanic brings to the table.
