Perpetual Paranoia
Perpetual Paranoia is a two-piece Thrash Metal band composed of Vocalist-Dale Thompson(located in New Zealand) and Guitarist Tiago James De Souza(from California). Perpetual Paranoia formed back in 2017 when Dale Thompson(Bride, The World Will Burn, No Other God) joined forces with guitarist extraordinaire - Tiago James de Souza. The two both met online with Thompson in New Zealand and Souza in California, it seemed to be a major obstacle to overcome. Yet, these two veteran metal musicians easily bridged the chasm of Pacific Ocean waters to begin composing a perfect blend of Thrash, Metal and Hard Rock in their respected countries. Both Thompson and Souza brought their ideas and talents together without ever meeting or rehearsing in the same room. Souza is currently still touring as the sole ax-wielder for Hand of Fire. The physical distance between the two is most definitely a non-issue.
Concerning the meaning behind the band's name, according to Rottweiler Records, the name Perpetual Paranoia lends itself to the thought of ongoing fear. It has an implication of something never-ending, yet something to be cautious of, maybe even to avoid. Perhaps, it is something to run from.
In an interview at Metal Mofos Dale addresses his move to New Zealand: Dale- "I have been in New Zealand going on 4 years now. I was single for a while, met a lovely woman online, Skype dated for 8 months, came to New Zealand to visit and to get to know her better. I went home liquidated my assets and moved here to be married. I could not be happier. She is the love of my life."

2018
In 2018 Perpetual Paranoia released their debut full-length album titled 'The Reapers' on the Retroactive Records label. This is a solid debut release that will surely go down as one of Dale's strongest efforts to date. This album contains some hard hitting Thrash that will pick you up and relentlessly slam you on the floor untill you beg for mercy. Yes, it's that heavy but as most of you already know, frontman-Dale Thompson has his roots in Heavy Metal, Grunge, and Hard Rock however, with the union of guitarist-Tiago De Souza the band decided to move in a different music direction and into the Thrash Metal realm. The match up between Tiago and Thompson couldn't be better with the heavy thrash'n guitar licks of Souza marrying perfectly with the powerful vocals of Dale Thompson. This is not unlike the connection between vocalist-Rob Rock and well known guitarist-Chris Impellitteri.
When it comes to the album's cover art, personally I find it to be lacking creativity and is unnecessarily leaning toward the extreme dark side of things. Hopefully, with future releases, we will see some changes in the area of album artwork and we will be presented with art that captures ones attention and draws them in to hear the Metal arrangements.

Now if you are one of those who is wondering how Dale's vocals have weathered over the years then let me put your fears to rest. Dale's vocals on this release are simply sick and draw a strong connection to his roots with Bride. To fully grasp what is happening here - Dale has taken his vocal inspiration from the early 'Silence Is Madness' days and forge them in Metal by means of the hammer & anvil and what has emerged is a much heavier version of Dale's early years as an artist. In the interview at Metal Mofos Thompson addresses his vocal direction: "...But Tiago wrote songs that just fit my style, my vocals, and which encouraged me to return to the Dale of old hitting those glass shattering notes and just letting loose."
Tiago James De Souza is best known as the guitarist of Bay Area, California Thrash Metal band - 'Hand Of Fire!' The guitar work on this 2018 release is heavy to say the least with a full wall of sound that hits you whether your ready or not. Souza shows no mercy and will thrash your head off! Some of the riffs are carried out to a point where they almost take on a Doom like quality adding further depth to the arrangements. Shredder-Tiago De Souza proves to not be a one trick pony by adding all the right injections of melodic guitar play from track to track. Tiago garners support in the guitar department by way of Dale's brother-Troy Thompson who lends his hand and abilities to this project as well.
Lyrically, I believe this to be the album that christian fans have waited so long to hear from Dale Thompson, an album with sustenance and meat that can penetrate to the core of the heart. The band had the following to say concerning their lyrical direction: "Bringing not only the heaviest music I have done in years but a heavier message as well Dale Thompson..."
