In this interview, I was able to catch up with NINA LLOPIS to ask her a few questions about her solo project 'UNVEILED PART 1 and 2'.
(Jacob) It's so good to finally be having this interview with your band:
(NINA) So great to be with you today, thank you for wanting to know more about the music ministry the Lord has given me.
(Jacob) So, can you give us some insight into what got you involved in the music industry and what is the ultimate purpose of the band?
(NINA) Many years ago I came to know the Lord in College. I was in a secular Rock band and thru a series of God-led events, the Lord led me to start to sing and lead worship in church and also to form a Christian Punk/Thrash band called 'The Lead'. I then went on from there to form 2 other bands, 'Out Of Egypt' and 'Means Grace'.
(Jacob) Who was the founding member(s) and when did the band officially form?
(NINA) I've been recording under my name Nina Llopis as a solo artist for some time now, since 1993.
(Jacob) What brand of instruments do you use and why do you prefer that specific brand over another?
(NINA) I love Martin acoustic guitars, Yamaha keyboards, Have a few different electric guitars (GIBSON, FENDER) and bass, play all of them, but not always at once.
(Jacob) Do you all have any hobbies outside of music that help to rejuvenate or inspire creativity within your music?
(NINA) I’m also an artist, photographer and designer.
(Jacob) Are there any artists that have played a part in influencing the members of your band along with your band's sound?
(NINA) I think I have some influences in some ways of some Rock Artists, but I'm always trying to find a unique sound. The Lord has made us all so creative and different!
(Jacob) What is the biggest problem that you have had to overcome as a band?
(NINA) I’ve been so blessed over the years to have band members that I have played with forever.
(Jacob) Can you go into some detail about the musical direction on your latest release 'Unveiled Part 1 and 2'?
(NINA) So 'Unveiled Part 1 and 2', Part one was released a few years back, and I was wanting to meld some heavier Rock sounds, With some heavier guitars and some keyboard/synth sounds. Music that would worship the LORD, and also give a message. Part 2, the same.
(Jacob) Do you feel like you achieved what you set out to accomplish on your latest project?
(NINA) YES! And I’m sooooooooo thankful it got done, and was distributed by ROXX Records.
(Jacob) What is your favorite song to perform, whether live or in studio, and why?
(NINA) I love all the songs, but I love to play "You Consume Me" from 'Unveiled Part 2' alot. I love to slow it down at the end and just let the Spirit of the Lord move.
(Jacob) Were there any special or funny moments during the recording process of the album?
(NINA) I was getting overwhelmed when I was recording vocals for "You consume me...come Holy Fire of God!" It was a powerful session. I felt the presence of God so strong that night!
(Jacob) At this time, are you planning to keep moving forward as a band and are there any plans for future projects in the works?
(NINA) By the grace of God, always moving forward with what He has. I'm right now recording a new solo CD and working on a new CD with my former band 'The Lead', and leading worship! ...God is Good!
(Jacob) Thank you for your time and thoughtful responses to each and every question. I am excited about your latest release and am looking forward to hearing more from the band in the future.
(NINA) Thank you again for asking about this music ministry...God Bess You!
