Herd formed back in 2012 in Goiânia, Brasil where they deliver up traditional Thrash Metal in the veins of bands like Mad Dragzter and Arnion. The idea behind the band's name is best told by the group from an interview at 'Templo Metal': "Herd comes from English which means herd. What led us to choose this name is the fact that we are part of Christ's flock and we chose this name to represent the Christian people. We are the sheep of the flock."

And without hypocrisy, of course, we are all adepts of the style and we carry Thrash Metal as a musical identity, as this appetite for it runs through our veins, but we believe that, like any musical style, ecclesiastical office, or any number of other ways we can be used by God. The band in our conception is an instrument in His hands, to reach people adept at the genre who are lost around the world."
2013
In 2013 Herd stomped onto the Thrash Metal scene with the release of their indie 3-track demo titled 'Crushing Demons'. For those who remember the 80's band Jerusalem and their 'Dancing On The Head Of The Serpent' album, the cover art on this 2020 release draws immediate comparisons. The idea behind the album's art work is taken from Gen 3:15 "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
The release of 'Crushing Demons' quickly garnered the band some recognition in the Metal community and helped create a platform to get their music into the hands of their fans. Herd has continued to build their fan base by playing at venues like pubs and motorbike events.

In 2020, eight years after the band's conception, Herd released their independent debut full-length album titled 'Murdering My Flesh'. This release includes recordings from the band's 2013 demo with all 3-tracks having been remastered and placed along side 7 additional unpublished tracks. Herd takes the idea for their album's title from the scriptures as seen in Galatians 5:24 "And those who belong to Christ Jesus have put to death their human nature with all its passions and desires."

The guitar section is managed by lead guitarist-Wagner Marques who lights up the arrangements with some killer Thrash play mixed with power riffs and Speed Metal fret boarding. What Thrash Metal band would be complete without a little Doom thrown in for good measure. This is exactly what we find here with the band at hand who has given the listener a slew of guitar techniques to sink one's teeth into.
The bass is managed by Elizmar Brandão who plays a significant roll in this 3-piece band to help keep things heavy in their arrangements from track to track.
Behind the kit is percussionist-Tiago Siqueira who is more of a technical drummer offering up enough time changes & heavy drum lines to bring the house down.

For future albums, the one suggestion that I can give the band is to have your lyrics proof read by a native English speaking person so that everything is better translated. However, with that said, the lyrics on this debut release are Christ centered and very capable of being understood as one can see in the following lyric excerpts:
