Forevertree formed back in the mid 90's in Ontario, Canada where they deliver up healthy doses of smash- mouth Hard Rock/Metal. Forevertree takes the idea for their band's name from Genesis 3:22 "22 And the Lord God said, Now the man has become like one of us, having knowledge of good and evil; and now if he puts out his hand and takes of the fruit of the tree of life, he will go on living for ever." There have been comparisons made between the tree of life and Jesus. Jesus is like a Tree of Life in the sense that in Him we have life and that life is forever.
Bassist-Geoff Breen explains why the band chose the Hard Rock genre: “Bands like Alice in Chains and Metallica really influenced us. It was no stretch of the imagination to do what we love. Every generation had a musical voice; for us, hard rock became our voice and it's easy to communicate in it. I’ve played in pop and indie bands but my personal language ends up in the heavier genres.”
Forevertree isn't new on the Hard Rock scene now having three releases to their credit including 1998-'Turning', 2009-'Alien' (indie), and 2012-'Z' (indie).
Forevertree has opened for such acts as Stryper & John Schlitt(Petra), along with many more.

In 2012, Forevertree released their junior independent full-length album simply titled 'Z'. The album's title is a short abbreviation for Zombie. With their latest release, Forevertree comes out swinging with a raw in your face attitude all the while making their mark in the Hard Rock community.
On this 2012 album, Vocalist-Dwayne Jackson draws comparison to some big hitters as in the tune "Awaken" where he sounds much like Vocalist-Ray Para(Worldview). Throughout this disc, you will also find Jackson's delivery bringing to mind frontman-Scott Weiland(Stone Temple Pilots). Throw in some Vocals not unlike that of Brad Arnold(3 Doors Down) and you will began to understand Dwayne Jackson's Vocal style. There are also times when Jackson comes into his own distinct delivery making it hard to pin him down to just one comparison.
Sean McGowan handles the six strings for Forevertree and shreds hard 'n heavy nothing short of what we have come to expect here at Christian Molten Metal. Sean delivers up some hard hitting, punchy, driving guitar play that is guaranteed to leave serious metal heads rattled and content. I couldn't help but notice that on a few tracks, the guitar shreds in the veins of well known guitarist-Slash(Guns N' Roses). Also, Some of the guitar arrangements for the tune "Coming Home" strongly remind of those on the track "Interstate Love Song" by 'Stone Temple Pilots'. So if you are a fan of the aforementioned bands, you should definitely check out Sean McGowan's guitar work on this release. If your a fan of guitar solos, and who isn't, you will find that this recording is interwoven with them throughout.
The percussionist for Forevertree is drummer-Ron Mellegers who does a fine job of keeping time for the band with plenty of time changes.
Bassist-Geoff Breen helps to keep things rumbling for the band as he hammers out his Bass lines with precision and plenty of heaviness.

Ephesians 2:1-5 tells us that we were once spiritually Dead(Zombies)
"1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler who exercises authority over the lower heavens, the spirit now working in the disobedient. We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love that He had for us, made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!"

It's notable that within the band's lyrics, on their 'Z' release, there's a subtle underlying "Zombie" theme, if you will, happening throughout the album with a message that conveys a need for change(salvation). We can see this beginning with track 1 - "Awaken" (you have to imagine something like the bringing to life of Frankenstein) "Awaken" speaks of the need to awaken and come to life forever. Track 2 "Beast" Asks the question of who are we? Which side are we on? The bible says that you will know them by their fruits so if you ignore the needs of others and only think of your own then maybe your a beast(goat-Zombie). One day God is going to separate the sheep from the goats and those who have believed in Jesus as their Lord and Savior will be with Him forever.
Track - 4 "No One Else" States: "Lost and desperate for a way out trying - death surrounds me on all sides" so once again we have an allusion of one who is spiritually dead(zombie) with the need to look to Jesus Christ for salvation. Track - 5 "My Old Friend" speaks of how as Christians, our old man(our old self, our previous sinful desires) keeps popping up (much like a lifeless zombie). However, We are new creatures in Christ so "There's only one thing left to do that's die to me and and rise to You". Lastly, we come to the title track "Zombie" which brings everything into full view with its allegorical allusions of a spiritually dead man coming to life through Jesus Christ. "Zombie" "Zombie-Time to raise it up, Time to raise it up, Time time to wake the zombie"

Concerning Forevertree's approach to lyrics, At Reverbnation the band states:
"Forevertree is a band who knows who they are, and are not afraid to share a clear message of hope and faith."

"No One Else"
No one else is coming
Hate the man that I have now become
Love so foreign to my mind
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ
Lost and desperate for a way out trying
Death surrounds me on all sides
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ
No one else is coming for you
No one else is coming
No one else is coming for you

Jesus Christ

"Awaken"
Sadness I feel
Empty that is real
The void that I've created
In these times
I feel so alone
Times I haven't taken
Awaken, stir this heart
Where do I begin?
Awaken, freedom on my knees
The joy you bring
The praise they sing
I hear the voices ringing
Whisper my name
You lift all my pain
The shame and guilt are gone
Forever
This album only sounds better and better with each listen. If you are into bands like Alter Bridge, Alice in Chains, Guns N' Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, 3 Doors Down, or even Nickelback then you are going to love what Forevertree brings to the table.
