Day Of Fire hails from Nashville, TN and delivers up some fist pumping Rock/Alternative oriented music that is sure to grab the attention of the Rock community. The band is known for their lead singer Josh Brown who, at the early age of 17, became the lead vocalist for the secular band Full Devil Jacket. On his way to major success, Josh began to be heavily involved in drugs which, one day in an Orlando restroom, nearly killed him. He then went to rehab for a couple of years where God got a hold of his heart leading Josh to believed in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. This new birth experience helped lead him away from the life style of drugs and partying. Josh, shortly thereafter, felt led to leave his former band in order to form a new band called Day Of Fire which would take him in a new direction with a new purpose.
In 2004, Day Of Fire released their self-titled Debut full-length album which has the tendency to lean more towards the Alternative side of Rock. However, if you are like me and can appreciate a variety of music styles, as long as it has a melodic side to it, then there is plenty to enjoy here.
With this first release, the band quickly garnered some recognition with the album winning a Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year and was also nominated for a Grammy Award. Listening to DOF's debut release, one can't help but draw comparisons to well known bands such as Nirvana & Skillet due to their music arrangements and the vocal work. At the bands Facebook page, we find that Day Of Fire lists Nirvana as being one of the bands that has influenced the group over the years. Over all, this album oozes a more 90's Grunge like atmosphere but with a more mature and professional approach that can be easily respected.
Vocalist Josh Brown helps to set this band apart from others with his God given talent, not just to sing, but to sing with heart felt emotion and grit. With his vocal delivery, it's easy to draw comparisons to the 1990's vocalist Kurt Cobain(Nirvana). However, there are quite a few moments where I found Josh sounding similar to John Cooper(Skillet). If vocals are high on your priorities when looking for new music, then I think you will find Josh Brown's delivery second to none.
Guitarist Joe Pangallo seems to be comfortable behind the axe as we often find him riffing with a relaxed Jam style yet there is plenty of energy with many of the tracks having heavier driving sounds that will get you moving. The guitars go between a 90's Grunge style to a simplistic Rock style making this an accessible album for Rock fans of all types who are looking for something a little different.

Day Of Fire lets listeners know who they are serving with their Christ centered lyrics as seen here:
"Through The Fire"
Walk in the flame again,
I'll be there to hold your hand,
Keeping you safe until the end.
And when the flood begins,
I'll be there with you to stand,
Walking in faith until the end.
(Chorus)
I see you through the flood,
See you through the fire,
See you through the storms a-raging.
Walking the darkest rain
I cover you by my name,
A shelter inside your world of pain
Step on the waters waves
Coming to me by faith
I am the light of better days
(Chorus)
Don't be afraid.
I'll never leave you I am,
Forever yours.
Forever yours,
Forever yours I am.
"Cornerstone"
All other ground is sinking sand
A doubting maze of desert land
Where darkness rules the heart of man
Till the Son shines light on him
Lord of all, show You're strong
On our knees we fall
Be a Cornerstone
Be a Cornerstone
Be the Rock higher than I
Be my Fortress wall
Be a Foundation for all
My Cornerstone
The buildings swaying in the wind
The towers crumble down again
This certainly will be the end
Of them not built on Him
Lord of all, show You're strong
On our knees we fall
Be a Cornerstone
Be a Cornerstone
Be the Rock higher than I
Be my Fortress wall
Be a Foundation for all
My Cornerstone
You, You are the Builder of my heart
You've held me together from the start
Be a Cornerstone
Be a Cornerstone
Be the Rock higher than I
Be my Fortress wall
Be a Foundation for all
My Cornerstone
"Rain Song"
~Pre-Chorus~
Rise up in this city
Gather in this light
Pour down on Your people
Your glory and Your life
-Chorus-
Rain, Lord we thirst for water
Rain, we are desert land
Rain, on Your sons and daughters
Rain, bring Your rain again
Walk in the flame again,
I'll be there to hold your hand,
Keeping you safe until the end.

In 2006 Day Of Fire released their follow-up full-length album simply titled 'Cut & Move'. On a whole, this sophomore release continues in the veins of their first album with a Grunge direction but with a few slight changes. The guitars sound a little more tight and daring while Josh Brown's vocals sound slightly different on his heavier/harsher tunes.
This release finds the lyrics continuing to be overtly Christ centered as the band continues to focus on serving their Lord and Creator- Jesus Christ.
This album comes highly recommended and is similar to Day Of Fire's debut release.

In 2009 Day Of Fire released a 3-track EP in that the 3 tunes are one in the same. What I am trying to say is that this EP consist of the song "Lately" with one cut being a normal cut done in the studio and the two other tracks both being 'live' recordings of the same "Lately" tune. The sound of the track "Lately" continues in the veins of the bands debut self-titled release, and Rocks things out with an alternative direction.
In 2010 Day Of Fire showed the Rock community that they were not ready to raise the white flag just yet as they released their third full-length album titled 'Losing All'. Here we find the band continuing in the Alternative Rock style that made them famous with their debut release.
Chris Daughtry(American Idol), who had opened for DOF a year before his career, Invited the band on tour and helped co-write a few of the tunes on 'Losing All' . The two tracks that he helped with are "Hello Heartache" , and "He's the Real Frickin' Deal". With Chris Daughtry's help, the album has a more modern up to date feel to it yet still holds on to the Grunge element that the band is known for.
The tune "Lately", which was off their 2009 EP, garnered attention from radio stations as it reached No. 33 on Billboard's Active Rock Chart.

If you enjoy Alternative music and are looking for more music in the veins of Nirvana or Skillet then DOF comes highly recommended.
