Daniel Band hails from Canada and were known as one of the early pioneers of christian Rock/Hard Rock. The band originated back in 1979 and got their start by playing along side other christian Rock bands in a local coffee house staged in the basement of their church. According to The Antidote, a secular guitar magazine called 'Guitar Player Magazine' referred to Daniel Band as “the grandfathers of contemporary Christian music”. And so, it’s often said that they carved the way through the difficulties with Christian music and styles and sort of made the way for what bands are doing today. Daniel Band is one of the most successful Canadian christian Hard Rock bands ever. The band placed as a top three finalist in the 1982 Homegrown concert sponsored by the Toronto radio station Q107. In addition, they played at the El Mocambo championship which also included several other local popular bands of the time.
In 1982 Daniel Band released their debut full-length album titled 'On Rock'. This debut release has an 80's classic Rock sound with touches from the 70's along with some Blues injections as well. The lyrics on this release are overtly Christ centered as can be said of their entire discography. Just one year later, Daniel Band released their follow-up sophomore full-length album titled 'Straight Ahead' which draws comparison to Rush's early albums. This second release followed suit with their debut album with similar sounds and arrangements. In 1984 Daniel Band showed no signs of stopping as they released their 3rd full-length album titled 'Run From The Darkness' which finds the band's sound moving into Hard Rock/Metal territory. Two years later, in 1986 Daniel Band released their 4th Full-length album titled 'Rise Up'. With this release we find a more mature band with heavier guitars, and a AOR radio friendly sound not unlike that of bands similar to Night Ranger.
In October 2011, the band was awarded the GMA Canada Lifetime Achievement Award recognizing their pioneering influence on Christian rock.
In 1987 Daniel Band released their 5th full-length studio Album titled 'Running Out Of Time'. In 2012 this release was excavated from the archives and officially re-mastered and re-issued by Retroactive Records. This re-issue has made this hard-to-find 1987 release available to their fans once more. In addition, their re-issue includes a bonus track titled "One" placed at the end of the track list. The sound quality is like night from day between the 1987 release and the 2012 re-issue with the re-mastered version giving much needed life to this classic and important piece of christian Rock history. With 'Running Out Of Time', Daniel Band captures the magic of the 80's with all the right hooks & smooth vocals of frontman-Dan McCabe accompanied by catchy guitar licks from axeman-Toni Rossi along with atmospheric keyboard work by Bill Findlay rounded out with Def Leppardesque drum work by percussionist-Matt Delduca.
With a close examination of this release, we find that the genre styles vary from track to track allowing the listener plenty of diversity. There's everything from Rock to Arena Rock to Hard Rock to Progressive to Metal.
In my early days as a christian back in the 80's, I remember borrowing 'Running Out Of Time' on a cassette tape from a friend and listening to it over and over again. The track that permanently stuck in my mind even up to today was track-7 "Greedy Little Hands". Recently, due to a friend from the land down under bringing this release back to my attention, I purchased a digital download of their 2012 re-issue and now find myself frequently reaching for this album over others in my collection. This release is just that good!

Toni Rossi does fine job on guitar for Daniel Band but many might not know that in 1990 he produced a solo album titled "Love In The City". This release captures the spirit of the late 80's Rock scene.
Lyrics are overtly Christ centered and thought provoking as well.
"Running Out Of Time"
Well you know we need a Saviour
‘Cause there is nothing that we can do alone
It always takes us sooner or later
But He will take us to our final home
And we're running out of time
Yes running out of time
Well we're running out of time
Yea we're running out of time
Listen now to what He's saying
He's the one who's risen from the grave
He can change us from what we are
And we'll travel far beyond the stars
"Long Time"
It's Never Ending In The Circle's Gaze
Are We Ascending To Eternal Day?
The Son Keeps On Loving And Calls Our Name And Wind
Keeps On Blowing From Where It Came
Is There Anything Such As A Long Time?
Is There Anything Such As A Long Time
When It Only Comes And Slips Away
Well Does Anyone Live Forever
If He Doesn't Love His Life Away
Well you know we need a Saviour
‘Cause there is nothing that we can do alone
It always takes us sooner or later
But He will take us to our final home
And we're running out of time
Yes running out of time
Well we're running out of time
