Not long after forming, Crossection entered the studio and began work on material for a demo recording. In 1987 Crossection released their full-length debut cassette recording titled 'What About Forever' on an independent label. With just one spin, it's easy to see the band beginning to come together and starting to develop their signature Rock sound. This album has more of a keyboard/guitar driven feel to the arrangements. There are a number of solid Rockers sewn throughout along with a fair share of ballads. The production is a little rough here and there but not bad for an indie recording. For those looking to obtain the band's complete discography, this is not a bad first offering!

In 1989 Crossection showed no signs of slowing down with the release of their follow-up full-length studio album titled 'Before The Dawn' on Image 7 Records. 'Before The Dawn' was recorded at Audio Art Recording in Saskatoon. With the release of 'Before The Dawn', the band continued to develop their signature sound. The production here is much tighter than their first album and the band's arrangements are taken to an all new level. There are some really good tracks on this project that will have 80's era fans sitting up and asking the question: Where can I get a copy of this album?

In 1990 Crossection released their 3rd full-length studio album titled 'Breaking Ground' on Image 7 Records. For this listener, 'Breaking Ground' is the album that Crossection will always be remembered for. With this third release, we now find a well-seasoned band that has fully developed their AOR sound. Lead Vocals are tight, there is plenty of energy from the guitar section, the bass is out front and not lost in the mix, the keys hold there own without being heavy-handed, and the drums deliver up just the right amount of percussion. From beginning to end, each song sounds unique on this album with all the right hooks to bring the listener back for more. Some of the tracks that stand out on this 1990 recording includes track-1 "River's Edge, track-3 "Too Much Sadness", track-4 "Touch The Sky", track-5 "Fork In The Road", track-6 "Where You Go", track-8 "Tears For The Taking", track-9 "I'm Missing You", track-10 "Against The Grain".

The band's lyrics are thought provoking while being
evangelical in nature as one can see in the following excerpts:
evangelical in nature as one can see in the following excerpts:
"River's Edge"
I know that I'm not perfect
And I'm in no way better than you
But I don't need a Miller High Life
To help me make it through
'Causе I'm standing on the River's Edge
Drinking thе Living Water
That can quench this thirsting soul
I've got the Lord in my heart
He keeps me rolling
I've got the Lord in my heart
I've got the Lord in my heart
I've got the Lord in my heart
All right
"Too Much Sadness"
There's just too much sadness
There's too many hearts with a broken beat
Life discarded
Is hiding in the faces of the people we meet
There's too much sadness in this world
There's too much sadness in this world
There's too much sadness in this world
Holy Father, precious Jesus
I need to feel Your touch
I need Your love so badly
Only You could know how much
Let Your love flow through me
Like a river to the sea
Peace that passes understanding
Come and carry me
"Where You Go"
Like a blind man face down on a dusty road
Always begging for something more
I'm always searching for someone who will take this load
Getting tired of living each day the same as the one before
I know I shouldn't worry 'bout tomorrow
Contentment is for those who put their trust in You
How many times have You brought me through my sorrow
You're the only love that I've found to be true, yeah
Where You go, I will follow
Pick up my cross and I won't turn back
Where You go, I will follow
Pick up my cross and I won't turn back
"High And Dry"
There ain't much that you can count on
Seems like nothin' stays the same
In this ever-changing world
The love of Jesus will remain
"Tears For The Taking"
How can we be so blind
How can we fail to see
That thankful people with thankful hearts
Is what we're called to be
Our God's a God of Grace
But can we look Him in the face
I just hope He can have some mercy
When He looks down and sees
Our tear stained lap of luxury
"Against The Grain"
I am not ashamed to say
That I am a follower of the Way
The Word of God is just and true
And His perfect truth keeps hounding you
And it always will remain against the grain
You got to go against the grain
You got to go against the grain
You got to go against the grain
You got to go against the grain
I know that I'm not perfect

After the release of 'Breaking Ground', Crossection's band members all went their separate ways. However, their frontman went on to form a new band called 'Doug Rawling & The Fourth Watch'. Rawling's band released a full-length album in 1991 titled 'Rhythm In Stone' on Image 7 Records.
