CELL 9 is a Hard Rock/Doom band from Sweden and is the brainchild of vocalist-Torbjörn Weinesjö. The band's roots go all the way back to 2015 in Sollentuna, Sweden where frontman-Torbjörn Weinesjö(Veni Domine, Audiovision) was busy writing new material when his long time friend and previous band mate from the 80's Niklas Wilhelmsson(Disciples and Bishop Caps) stopped by to repair his Bass guitar. In addition, Niklas was asked by Torbjörn to bring along a working Bass in order to lay down some Bass lines on some tracks that he was working on. This reunion of two long time friends was all that was needed to stoke the fires of a new band with a new sound. Not long after that meeting, Torbjörn's brother- Thomas Weinesjö(Veni Domine, Saviour Machine, Audiovision), was contacted and soon came on board to complete this Swedish band. Shortly after their conception, this Scandinavian trio of "cell mates" got to work on material for a debut release. The recording sessions took place at the band's very own studio called Room of Doom studios in recording room number 9. This is the very room where Veni Domine has logged in many hours recording & laying down tracks as well. Recording room number 9 is the place where the group took the idea for their band's moniker-“CELL 9”.
In 2016 CELL 9 released their independent full-length debut album titled 'The Devils Feast'. This recording was produced & mixed by Torbjörn Weinesjö and Cell 9 at the Room of Doom. The album was well received within the Rock & Metal community and featured Hard Rock, Doom, and touches of Power Metal.

In 2020 CELL 9 once again darkened the doors at their Room of Doom studios to begin work on a follow-up album.
In 2022, 6-years after their debut album, CELL 9 released their follow-up sophomore full-length studio album titled 'Second Coming' on Melodic Passion Records. The album was recorded at the band's own studio - Room of Doom studios and produced by both Torbjörn Weinesjö & Cell 9. The recording was mixed by Torbjörn Weinesjö and mastered by Mats Hallstensson.
When it comes to the album's title 'Second Coming', the band had the following to say: "The title is basically because it’s the second release by the band. Knowing the history of the band members, we had a thing for the apocalypse with earlier bands, so it suited overall situation, also given the times we’re living in." - Torbjörn -
With their follow-up album, the band walks a fine line between Hard Rock and Doom within their arrangements. Some of your straight forward Doom oriented bands can often be associated with having slow, dragging, and non-energetic arrangements. However, that is not the case here with CELL 9 and their latest release 'Second Coming'. CELL 9 knows how to interject Doom elements at the right time without losing the forward motion and energy that we love about Hard Rock music.
The track-list for 'Second Coming' includes 1.Louder Than War 2.Now (My Faith Will Carry On) 3.I Am
4.Kings of Our Time 5.Somewhere 6.Miracles (I Believe) 7.Not Left Alone 8.Dawn to Light 9.Game of Shadows.

The band's lead vocalist-Torbjörn Weinesjö(Veni Domine, Audiovision) sings with a Goth like monodramatic vocal delivery. However, Torbjörn's delivery is done in such a way that the listener will still be able to detect various shifts in emotion within his vocal work throughout this project. Torbjörn's vocal style is unique and it's difficult to make comparison with him and other vocalists...
The guitar section is managed by Torbjörn Weinesjö who shreds the floor up with heavy soundin' lower tuned guitars. Although Torbjörn is often found playing doomy guitars within the arrangements, there are a number of sections where he breaks away into straight forward Hard Rock style guitar shred.
The band's lyrics read like poems and are thought provoking
requiring some reflection by the listener as one can see in the following excerpts:

"Louder Than War"
Freedom is to be in peace with God
Rest my soul, gentle and kind
The word (of God) will ease my worried mind
And heal the union for our(life)time
"Miracles, I Believe"
It's easy to deny
Our spirituality
But there´s something true
Inside for me and you
When I pray it's like opening the door
Miracles will begin deep inside
When I pray it is rest for my soul
Miracles, I believe the transition within
"Not Left Alone"
What are the answers to the pain
From all the misery who is to gain
As pandemics scorch our land
Lets hope our house was not built on sand
We´re not left alone
As the world now falls
You´re not left alone
Holy spirit now calls
We´re not left alone
You´re not left alone
"I Am"
But life He breathed in us all
Took half a lifetime for us to fall
Know the historic pain
I Am
We forgot the word who says I Am
I Am
We live in denial of the Force
I Am
I Am is still the One in control
It´s The Way
"Kings of our Time"
You might have heard it in your childhood
That the end of days are near
You might be new to this old vision
It´s not a Hollywood affair
Who are the Kings of our time
Who will rule our heart and mind
What was true to be a crime
Is now held high up to the sky
Now the hour is at hand
Before the light, the dark will mark our loved home land
Are we asking for surveillance
To keep the threat away
Trading freedom for our safety
There´s evil in the making (here)
Who is the King of your time
That will make your hours stray
Into memories of grey?
Curse be broken as we pray
"Dawn to light"
We stray here, in circles
Still chasing dreams
The face is still smiling
The eyes, a silent scream
Fly now spirit
Fly come free me ( fill me)
Fall of man
Man will fight
Fight the God
Fall of day
Night to dawn
Dawn to light
We follow, just something
To fill the need
Whatever, not Jesus
Who can really set us free?
Fly now spirit
Fly come find me
In the following, CELL 9 helps shed some light on the underlying meaning of the lyrics in "Dawn to light": "Explaining lyrics is not always the easiest task and the reason being, from my point of view, that the listener in co-op with the Holy Spirit will be guided in the process of hearing what is needed to be heard in a given time. Having that said, my starting point for this lyric was that I believe that there’s a tension between the Creator and the created ever since the dreadful moment in the garden of Eden. The Holy Spirit playing a key role first descending upon Christ when baptized and ultimately replacing the need for the temple and the holy rites entering the holiest of holy once a year. Upon the death and resurrection of Christ, God was no longer found in the temple but in all of us through the Holy Spirit. And it’s almost like everything comes in cycles, just like the day, sin, repentance, forgiveness…. Anyhow, bound by the fall, we’re gravitating towards anything else but Christ, deep inside we know it but numb ourselves out." - Torbjörn -
