7enth Time Down
Sometimes bands come across your path in the strangest of ways. My wife, who mostly listens to contemporary bands like Hillsong, Needtobreathe, & Chris Tomlin, downloaded one of 7enth Time Down's tunes called "Just Say Jesus". We were in the car and this tune came up in the rotation, which was a surprise due to the softer music styles that she likes. Needless to say, the band had my undivided attention. Later, after checking out the rest of the album, I found that there were some tracks that were even heavier than the previously mentioned track. So I have to give credit to my wife for this find.
7enth Time Down is an AOR band from Kentucky, US that combines elements of Country, Pop Rock, Rock, and Hard Rock. Such diversity allows them to appeal to a larger fan base while making their mark in the Rock community. The band has 3 releases to their credit 2011-'Alive In You', 2013-'Just Say Jesus' , and 2015-'God Is On The Move'. In addition, in 2014, the band released a 5-track Christmas Holiday EP titled 'A Christmas Wish List'.
The band's name was taken from scripture as seen in the book of 2 Kings which states:
2 Kings 5:14
(Paraphrased) - "Naman the king had leprosy. God told him through a prophet if he would dip in the Jordan river 7 times he would be healed. Naman refused because at the time the dirty river was no place for a king. He finally humbled himself before God and on his 7eventh Time Down he came up clean!"

Logging nearly 100 shows a year, the band has toured with a long list of impressive artists, including Newsboys, for King & Country, KJ-52, Manafest, Fireflight and Stellar Kart, among others, and was recently a featured artist on Air 1’s popular “Club Awesome Tour.”
“We just want to gently remind people that no matter what kind of junk you’re carrying around, Jesus is enough.”
In 2013, 7enth Time Down released their Sophomore Full-length album titled 'Just Say Jesus'. This release Rocks hard with plenty of diversity and the hooks to keep it interesting. The band is on a major label called BEC Recordings and has been since their 2011 debut. 7enth Time Down is comprised of four members frontman/Rhythm Guitarist-Mikey Howard, Lead Guitarist-Eric Vanzant, Bassist-Cliff Williams, & Drummer-Austin Miller.
The majority of this album was cut in Howard's basement studio in Mount Vernon, Ky which is the same studio that the band recorded their first track back when they were all in their teens. Yes, this is a tightly nit band that got their start back when they were all in middle school. After High School, the band decided to go into the ministry as a full-time Rock band.

The band has released a diverse album therefore the following is a track by track simple breakdown of each tune: Track 1 "The One I'm Running To" has a Rock'n Country sound mostly due to the chosen Vocal delivery. Track 2 "Promises" is a Rock song that has a modern Country sound once again mostly due to the Vocal delivery. Track 3 "Just Say Jesus" has Rock sound with Vocals more in the veins of 80's artist Richard Marx. Track 4 "Only King Forever is an up-beat praise tune. Track 5 "Wait For You" Vocalist Mikey Howard reaches for more grit and heavier guitar riffs are introduced. Track 6 "Good Life" Mikey's delivery continues in a heavier grittier style while the guitars lay down some heavy driving riffs that threaten to enter into Thrash territory. Track 7 "Hurricanes" has some pounding drum work by Austin Miller and some nice hooks by Vocalist Mikey H. Track 8 "Nothing To Give" is another nice Rock tune with some smooth Vocal work more in the veins of Richard Marx. Track 9 "Shadows" finds the band cranking things up a notch and putting into play some heavier guitar play. Track 10 "Religious And Famous" frontman Mikey Howard draws from a much heavier Vocal style and guitars deliver the goods. Track 11 "Free" gets heavy quick with Metalesque Vocals from the lead Vocalist. Track 12 "Renegade" puts the pedal to the floor and Rocks hard. Track 13 "Just Say Jesus" and Track 14 "The One I'm Running To" are both acoustic versions of tracks 1 and 3.
When it comes to lyrics, “There’s a story told in each song,” Williams explains. “We write about living and what inspires us because Christians are real people. As believers, God will inspire you. It’s going to be the biggest part of who you are. That doesn’t mean at times you’re not going to write a song that’s reflective of who you used to be. We’re just southern dudes who’ve got dirty pasts just like all the other people who have come to know God.”
Howard shares. “We focus on what God has done in us through His son Jesus and the cross… We quickly get to the bigger part of the story, the resurrection part, and that’s what our focus is as a ministry—life, resurrection, joy.”

'Just Say Jesus'
Life gets tough and times get hard
And it's hard to find the truth in all the lies
If you're tired of wondering why you're heart isn't healing
And nothing feels like home cause you're lost and alone
Just screaming at the sky
When you don't know what to say
Just say Jesus
There is power in the name
The name of Jesus
If the words won't come cause you're too afraid to pray
Just say Jesus
Whisper it now, or shout it out
However it comes out, He hears your cry
Out of nowhere He will come
You gotta believe it
He will rescue you
Just call out to the way, the truth, the life

When you don't know what to say
Just say Jesus
There is power in the name
The name of Jesus
If the words won't come cause you're too afraid to pray
There is just one name, strong enough to save
There is just one name
There is just one name
Jesus
When you don't know what to say
Just say Jesus
There's still power in the name
The name of Jesus
If the words won't come cause you're too afraid to pray
If the words won't come and you don't know what to say
Just say Jesus
Life gets tough and times get hard
And it's hard to find the truth in all the lies
If you're tired of wondering why you're heart isn't healing
And nothing feels like home cause you're lost and alone
