X-Terra is a Classic Metal band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania that saw their conception back in 1985. X-Terra is a trio band that was formed by vocalist/guitarist-Clint Reed, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline. The band has a unique sound, which takes one on a journey from Heavy Metal to Hard Rock to folk and everything in-between. X-Terra is listed as a verb meaning - that mankind was created out of the earth and he should live to his ultimate potential. Over the past 25 years, with the help of Jesus, the band has done just that. They keep pressing on with God and His desire for them to minister to people through the words and music He gives them. They never stop writing and performing, they know they are doing just what God wants them to do - Rockin' it loud and positive.
X-Terra has been playing and recording music for over 33 years now. In 1987 the band released
their first recording which was a 2-track demo on an indie label. The line-up for this demo recording included vocalist/guitarist-Clint Reed, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline. In 1988 X-Terra released a second demo with 3-tracks titled Demo '88 on an indie label. The line-up for this demo recording included vocalist/guitarist-Clint Reed, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline.

In 1989 X-Terra released a third demo with 8-tracks titled 'Who Said' on an indie label. This release was recorded at Sound Investment Studios by Tom Borthwick. "Who Said" placed in the Top 10 for that year in a poll of local releases taken by music newspaper Pennsylvania Musician. The line-up for this demo recording included vocalist/guitarist-Clint Reed, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline.
In 1992 X-Terra released their 10-track full-length album titled 'Experience The Power' on an indie label.
This release was recorded at Sound Investment Studios by Tom Borthwick. It's worth noting that in 2015 their
'92 album was reissued in both digital & CD formats. This is a Classic Rock album with some 70's groove, 80's Rock, and some folk touches thrown in for good measure. There are a couple of tracks here worth checking out including track-3 "First Stone" and track-6 "Mighty Oak". The line-up for the band's '92 recording included vocalist/guitarist-Clint Reed, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline.

In 1995 X-Terra released their 11-track full-length album titled 'New Terrain' on an indie label. This release was recorded at Sound Investment Studios by Tom Borthwick. There's some nice guitar work on this album by
axeman-Clint Reed who delivers everything from driving Rock styles to Bluesy guitar play to groove to acoustic. with so many varying styles represented on this release it makes one wonder if that is why they named the album 'New Terrain'. Some tracks worth checking out include track-2 "Warrior", track-3 "Father's House", track-9 "The First Shall Be Last", track-10 "Nowhere To Run". Then there's track-6 "Emotional Overload" which with its talking parts reminds of early Daniel Amos but when the guitars and vocals kick in you know your in for something special here. 'New Terrain' proves to be a solid offering by the band with a strong vocal performance by frontman-Clint Reed. The line-up for this 1995 recording included vocalist/guitarist-Clint Reed, bassist-Anne Kachline, drummer-Bob Kachline and guest musician-Tom Borthwick on the Hammond Organ.

In 1996 vocalist-Clint Reed departed leaving a huge void in the in the band's frontman position. During the next two years, Bob and Anne continued writing both music and lyrics for future albums.
In 1998 X-Terra released their full-length 12-track self-titled EP on an indie label. The line-up for their '98 release saw some changes and was comprised of vocalist-Rich Wilkens, guitarist-Josh Haynes, rhythm guitarist-Russ Straw, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline. After forming, the band went on to play a series of shows and festivals across the USA. However, this tour and band union lasted for only two years. One track that stands out on this Classic Rock album is track-3 "Woe To The Wicked" which sounds similar to that of The Crucified.
Some time after the release of their '98 'X-Terra' recording, Bob & Anne placed an add in the Pennsylvania Musician Magazine requesting a singer/guitarist for a Christian band. It wasn't long before vocalist-Bill Hunt(Runaway Train) responded from Grantville, PA. As soon as the three met there was an instant connection musically and spiritually and Bill promptly came on board to fill the position as lead singer & guitarist. Bill's musical journey began when he was about 7 and was obsessed with Kiss. From that moment on he knew he wanted to be a "Rock Star". He started out playing guitar at the early age of 9 and formed his first real band when he was only 14 years old. Some of the many bands that have influenced Bill over the years include Bon Jovi, Poison, Kiss and Stryper. The newly formed trio began working on new material for a new release.
In 2003 X-Terra released their 13-track full-length album titled 'Wolves' on an indie label. 'Wolves' was recorded at Plymouth Rocks Studio in Plymouth, PA and was engineered by Paul Sinclair. With this recording we find the band at the top of their game playing Metal & Hard Rock with some Thrash touches here and there. Vocalist-Bill Hunt(Runaway Train) makes his debut appearance as frontman and delivers up a solid performance showing both strong & consistent vocal control in his delivery. Bill also handles guitars and shows his prowess from track to track which is nothing short of a Metal feast. This is one of X-Terra's stronger more solid releases with the overall sound drawing comparison to bands like 'Electrik' and Poison to say the least. The line-up for this 2003 album was comprised of vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist-Bill Hunt, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline.
In 2006 X-Terra released their 14-track full-length album titled 'X-NIHILO' on an indie label. 'X-NIHILO' was recorded and mixed by Bill Hunt at his personal studio called 'The Bakery' in Grantville, PA. The recording was mastered by John Myers at Plymouth Rocks Studio. This album features 80's style Metal and Rock arrangements with varying vocal styles from beginning to end. A couple of tracks that stands out on this 2006 offering include track-2 "I Will Survive" & track-3 "Don't Knock The Rock" which both have that 80's Rage Of Angels' sound. Some additional songs worthy of checking out include track-4 "Purchased In Blood" track-8 "You Are the Reason", track-10 "Don't Give Up", and track-13 "Hello". The line-up for 'X-NIHILO' was comprised of vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist-Bill Hunt, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline.
All I can say about this release is do what ever it takes to get this album even if you have to sell your Stratocaster guitar, OK maybe don't do that but try to get your hands on this album if you love Arena Rock and Metal bands of the 80's.

In 2009 X-Terra released their 11-track full-length compilation album titled 'From the Vault' on an indie label. 'From The Vault' was recorded at 'The Bakery' and is a collection of songs which have stood the test of time and remain in X-Terra's set list even today. This collection features some of the band's most requested songs over the years along with 3 additional new tracks. Each track was re-recorded with the band's dream team line-up which was comprised of vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist-Bill Hunt, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline. This was another solid release for the band with with some tight fist poundin' tracks that will rock your blues away. The songs that stand out on this Classic Metal release are tracks 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10. My lone complaint is by way of the production and sound quality which is poor on some of the tracks. This release could definitely benefit from being remastered.
The track-list along with the album that each song is originally from is noted in the following list: 1. Who Said('89 demo-Who Said), 2. Ready Or Not('89 demo-Who Said), 3. Love Is Cruel(new track), 4. The Lord Is My Shepherd('92-Experience The Power), 5. Warrior('95-New Terrain), 6. Father's House('95-New Terrain), 7. Keep The Lightening(2000-X-Terra), 8. Smile For Me(new track), 9. Me Gadarene(2000-X-Terra), 10. Tower Of Babel(2000-X-Terra), 11. For The Want Of A Nail(new track).

In 2015, the band's 1998 'X-Terra' album was repackaged and re-released as an EP with only 7-tracks from their original '98 recording. This 2015 re-visualized EP reissue was titled 'The Red Album' which allowed the old cassette recordings to now be in both digital & CD formats. One track that stands out on this Classic Rock album is track-3 "Woe To The Wicked" which sounds similar to that of The Crucified.
In 2017 X-Terra released their 12-track full-length album titled 'God Don't Make Junk' on an indie label.
GDMK is a Rock album that incorporates 70's and 80's era arrangements seasoned with Doom touches throughout. The line-up for this 2017 release is comprised of vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist-Bill Hunt, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline.
Unfortunately, on this recording it seems that frontman-Bill Hunt decided to experiment with his vocals incorporating falsetto touches here and there which did not work in favor of the album. There's an old saying, when something is not broken, then there is no reason to try and repair it! However, with that said, there are a few tracks that stand out on this 2017 release including track-5 "Family We Deserve", track-7 "Reap Sow", track-10 "Crosses In The Sand", and track-12 "Forgive Us All".

In 2018 X-Terra released a full-length 9-track Christmas album titled 'The Savior Is Born' on an indie label. The line-up for this 2018 release is comprised of vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist-Bill Hunt, bassist-Anne Kachline, and drummer-Bob Kachline. Unfortunately, with this release, the falsetto torture continues with many great Christmas songs being butchered in the process. Sadly, there are no songs that stand out on this release!
X-Terra has been active and playing music for many years now. Anne Kachline states: "I feel the longevity of the band is due to the fact that we have been very fortunate and blessed to work with serious and dedicated musicians who want to use their God-given talents to not only go out and play music and have fun, but also to use music as a positive force in a sometimes very negative world."
Looking for some Classic Metal to add to your collection then look no further than Pennsylvania's very own X-Terra. Over the years the band has produced a little something for everyone from Folk to Rock and Metal music.
There is something to be had on almost every album however, the albums that are the strongest on a whole include "Wolves", 'X-NIHILO', and 'From the Vault'.
