Resurrection Band
The band started out in 1971 under the name "Charity" but changed their name to Resurrection Band in 1972 and was also known as Rez Band or Rez. The significance of Resurrection Band is that Jesus is not dead but has resurrected from the dead therefor conquering death. The band is known for their Bluesy Metal sound put to lyrics about the need for Christ as our only Savior - to social issues that need changing. Rez is headed up by Husband and Wife team Glenn and Wendi Kaiser. The band is credited as one of the forerunners in christian Metal music. "Christianity Today" called them "The most influential band in Christian music history". Rez saw a lot of success in the 1980s and even had two videos on MTV showcasing the songs "Love Comes Down" and "Crimes."
It's also notable that the band has their own record label called Grrr Records and are based out of Chicago, Illinois.
In 2000, the Resurrection Band disbanded after almost 30 years of service. Sometimes the band gets together still to do various gigs and one such gig was at the cornerstone Festival in 2008 in celebration of Cornerstones 25th Anniversary.
My favorite albums by Resurrection Band have always been "Between Heaven 'N Hell" and "Silence Screams" but "Reach of Love" and "Innocent Blood" have alot to offer too. The great thing about Rez is that there is a little something for everyone due to the many albums and experimentation of the band over the years.
The guitar work of Glenn Kaiser and Stu Heiss is simply incredible and very fitting in order to complete the Bluesy Metal sound that the band is trying to accomplish.
The bluesy power ballads done by Glenn are nothing short of phenomenal with his raspy Metal delivery. I have found that listening to the band late at night is the ticket to fully enjoying the incredible nusic that Rez has released over the years. Some of my favorite songs are "Zuid Afrikan" , "Walk On" , " and "Shadows."
You might be thinking, "all this sounds good but how do their lyrics measure up?"

"Walk On"
When you see a blind man
Don't walk on by
When you see a lame man
Don't walk on by
When you see a drunkard
Don't walk on
When you see a victim
Don't victimize
We got to reach out
Come on out of the night
Be the people of light, the people of light
We can feel the pain of a hungry child
We can see dispair in a mother's eyes
We can you see the refugees on the nightly news
From the comfort of our couches and our padded pews
We got to reach out
Come on out of the night
Be the people of light, the people of light
He is the hungry
Don't walk on by
He is the thristy
Don't walk on by
He is the stranger
Don't walk on
He is the naked
You can't walk on by
He is the wounded
Don't walk on
He is the prisoner
Don't walk on by
He is the least
Don't walk on
He is the least of these
Don't you walk on by
'You Got Me Rockin'
Fill me with you Spirit, transform my mind,
I will not be silent, 'cause now is the time for the truth of the gospel to be shouted out loud in the heat of the battle, in the midst of the crowd.
You got me rockin', and I give you control,
Got me rollin', my name's on the roll,
You got me rockin', and I give you control,
Got me rollin', my name's on the roll.
You got me rockin'.
I thank you for dying so that I could live,
I thank you for something that I could give:
My talent surrendered, my life on the line,
Jesus, you're my salvation, turning water to wine.
