Bloodgood
Back in 1987 me (the reviewer) accepted the Lord as my personal Savior. I then began listening to Christian Music via christian radio. It wasn't long before I discovered Bloodgood who was one of the first christian Metal band I had ever heard. I immediately loved the band with their heavier guitars and blues oriented vocals by frontman-Les Carlsen's. Bloodgood has always been one of those special bands that, this listener, will never forget.
Bloodgood is a Seattle based group that has its origins dating back to 1983 when Michael Bloodgood decided to form the band. Michael began putting together his team and brought on well known Guitarist-David Zaffiro, Drummer-J.T. Taylor, and Vocalist-Les Carlsen.
Bloodgood was chosen as the name for the band due to Michael being the founder but also for another reason which is that Christ is "good" and if you Trust in Jesus, His "blood" will wash you clean.
The Band's first release was in 1985 and was a demo consisting of 4 songs and was titled 'Metal Missionaries'.
In 1986 Bloodgood released their first full-length album titled 'Bloodgood'. Then in 1987 the band followed up with another release called 'Detonation'. Every band has an album that they are known for and with Bloodgood it was 'Detonation'. Many of the songs that Bloodgood is known for are off this album like the tracks "The Messiah" and "Alone in Suicide" which tells those that are considering suicide that it isn't the answer, only Jesus is the answer to everything including life's problems. On 'Detonation' everything came together for the band giving them notarization as a top Metal band. In 2010 ,"Detonation" was re-released to the public, after being re-mastered to give the album a more up to date sound.
In 1988 Bloodgood released "Rock in a Hard Place".
In 1989 Bloodgood released "Out of the Darkness".
In 1990 Bloodgood released "Alive in America" Live, Vol. 1" (My Personal Favorite)
In 1990 Bloodgood released "Shakin' The World, Live Vol. 2" (My Personal other Favorite)
In 1991 Bloodgood released "All Stand Together"
In 1993 Bloodgood released "To Germany With Love-Live in Germany"
After 8 years of touring with the band, Michael Bloodgood was called by God to be a Pastor of a Church.

In 2013 about 20 years later, Bloodgood decided to return to the studio to record a new album titled 'Dangerously Close'. On this album we have the classic Bloodgood sound but with modern day touches thrown in for good measure. Even after all this time, we can see that Les Carlsen hasn't lost his abilities as a soprano vocalist, in that he still can reach the higher notes. This 2013 release doesn't disappoint and was a good follow up to the album 'All Stand Together'.
What Bloodgood brings to the table is Classic Melodic Metal with the occasional Power Metal tune mixed in helping to break up the monotony. If you are a Power Metal fan then you will find plenty to get excited over with Bloodgood's offerings.
Les Carlsen really delivers as a vocalist with his unique raspy bluesy high note reaching vocals. His vocal delivery has a unique sound that is incomparable with other vocalist of the same genre.
One thing I really appreciate about the band is their commitment to solid Christian lyrics which build up the saints and encourage us to take a stand in a wicked world.

"What's Following the Grave"
Are you lost this evening
Can't you trust anyone at all?
There's a heart that's beating
While the hands are writing on the wall
You're afraid of bleeding
That's the life that's flowing through your veins
But your soul is needing
You're not sure what's following the grave
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
Don't you try to break away
From the One who's standing at your door
All He wants is to save you
After all...you were bought and paid for!
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
If you know Him there'll be life!
If you don't there'll be separation!
If you know Him there'll be life!
If you don't there'll be separation from my God!
Oh Lord they're gonna die without the blood
Without the blood of Jesus Christ!
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
What's following the grave
"Lamb Of God"
Like tongues of fire lick up straw
The doomed go down into the dark
The last remark on dying lips
Breakaway from the fingertips
He stretched out His arms to hold you
Gave up His life to know you
Lamb of God
Christ the Lord
Lamb of God
On His knees He washed our feet
Poured His blood on the mercy seat
Told us to love one another
Lay down your life for your brother
Born of a virgin
Water to wine
Taught in the temple
Healed the blind
Holy Spirit
Fruit of the vine
I am yours
You are mine
Lamb of God
Christ the Lord
Lamb of God
