Four Star Revival hails from Dayton, Ohio and are known for their non-compromising hard hitting Hard Rock/Metal arrangements. In 2014 Four Star Revival stepped onto the Metal scene with the release of their debut full-length album 'Knights Of The Revival' which was met with a strong positive response from many different reviews. The lineup for the band's debut release was comprised of vocalist-Jack Emrick(Life After Death), guitarist-Benny Bodine(WarMinister), bassist-Ed Girard(House of Jason), and drummer-Eddie Ling(Time Wasted Sleeping).
In 2017, Four Star Revival released their follow-up sophomore 5-track EP simply titled 'The Underdog'. With this release, the band has parted ways with Aztek Records and is now teaming up with Headstone Records to deliver up 5 hard hitting Power Metal tracks. Their EP finds the band firing on all cylinders with an in-your-face sound and message that is sure to leave one hungry for more. The album's cover art is nicely done however, I couldn't help but notice how it draws comparison to Oracle's 2010 'Desolate Kings' release where we find a similar album cover being displayed.
The release of 'The Underdog' finds Vocalist Jack Emrick coming into his own and sounding better than ever behind the mic. Emrick shows a growing maturity in his delivery drawing from a slightly larger-proven bag of tricks with everything from raspy, to soaring vocals and everything in between only enhanced by more range and hooks making this listening experience much more enjoyable. Our vocalist is even found unleashing some jaw dropping screams here and there pushing this project to the next level.
Shredder Benny Bodine schools us in the guitar department on just what a fret board is capable of. Benny shows a maturity not always seen with other bands of the same genre. Here he can be found dropping the axe and shredding up some heavy Power Metal riffs that will drive your face up against the wall leaving it bruised and battered. Although Bodine is a lone guitarist, he commands the stage with an assault strong enough to rip off the ears of an unsuspecting listener. This is partly due to the use of a little recording technique called overdubbing giving us a fuller wall of sound.
Ed Girard takes up position behind the Bass laying down a fuller heavier sound to the mix while newest member- Paul Strausburg keeps time for the band with some intricate percussion styles coupled with a number of time changes.
4SR is committed to serving the Lord and it shows as one can see in the following lyric:
"Rumors Of Wars"
Calling all the soldiers home, the storm is growing near
Angels sing and spread their wings, the devil runs in fear
Fire falling down like rain, the moon is turning red
Stars are falling from the sky, He’s calling home the dead
The greatest story ever told, the truth is here so now behold
The greatest story ever told, the truth is here so now behold
Chariots of gold they ride, with warriors at the helm
Nothing will be left alive, send the demons back to hell
Fear and loathing fill the air, the gnashing of their teeth
The lake of fire is burning hot, for those that won’t believe
The greatest story ever told, the truth is here so now behold
The greatest story ever told, the truth is here
Rumors of war
Nations rise and they will fall
Rumors of war
They will fall
Rumors of war
False prophets telling only lies
Rumors of war, Only lies
Calling all the soldiers home, the storm is growing near
Angels sing and spread their wings, the devil runs in fear
Fire falling down like rain, the moon is turning red
Stars are falling from the sky, He’s calling home the dead
The greatest story ever told, the truth is here so now behold

Chariots of gold they ride, with warriors at the helm
Nothing will be left alive, send the demons back to hell
Fear and loathing fill the air, the gnashing of their teeth
The lake of fire is burning hot, for those that won’t believe
The greatest story ever told, the truth is here so now behold
